We all know that a victory leads to good spirits, but who knew that winning a football game might also mean that players get healthier. During the Gators win over Tennessee last week (33-23), Florida (3-0) was able to pull out their victory while several key players continued to rest for more important, upcoming games. Their health is crucial at this point, as the Gainesville players will come against a seething Kentucky Wildcats team that’s looking to avenge their most recent loss to Louisville.
Several fans got nervous when running back Chris Rainey was helped off the field during the third quarter. Word has it, though, that he simply had the wind knocked out of his chest after he landed on the ball. Then there were those intimidating players who dressed for the game on Saturday, but weren’t sure if they would get to go on the field.
Among those who stayed in street clothes during the game, cornerback Jeremy Brown (knee injury) was hobbling around on crutches, tight end Jordan Reed was hurt the previous week, but no one knows why, receiver Robert Clark returned after a hamstring injury and tight end AC Leonard debuted for Florida just a few weeks after going through knee surgery.
Kentucky will have their hands full against the undefeated Gators when they face each other at 7pm on Saturday night.
